In Germany we actually had a holiday on October the 3rd because of the reintegration of "East Germany". But this year the 3rd was a Saturday so it was a pretty useless holiday for most.



I gotta study for my exams anyways so to me it's all the same.

yeah labour day is literally one of the least stupid holidays and like 90% of the populations of countries that celebrate it have no idea what its for lol

thats true. what has always bothered me (and i know u wont ~understand~ cuz apparently australians dont really celebrate halloween) is that we have dumbass blatantly christian oriented holidays like easter in our apparently multicultural society yet we dont get the day off for HALLOWEEN which is way awesomer than that or dumb shit like boxing day the holiday of consumerism and corporate rule

all the religious holidays are pretty stupid tbh. I'm fine with christmas because it's just part of a winter/new years break. But in germany we have like 10 other days were everyone stops working because yezus. And in germany about roughly 50% of the public doesn't believe in a deity.

to be fair I think if you start acknowledging every cultural and religious holiday you still run into the problem that nobody will work anymore. And it's somewhat understandable that the major cultural/religious group has a dominant voice in stuff like that.

Don't really have halloween in the netherlands but we have something quite similar on 11 november called sint maarten
