This is like plastic music for dumb people. The new definition of average; not bad, not good, hook-friendly, super edited, a mixture between pop-punk and everything that was 15 year old kids radio rock all infused into a disc...good god

i can see the appeal in this though, not that i like it. the production is fucking horrendous and the lead vocals and lyrics ruin it for me.

i get thats olis vocals are a bit hit and miss, but i honestly enjoy them quite a bit
yeah the production isnt brilliant but it could be a lot worse tbh
and lyrically, there are less cringey and awful moments but overall id say the quality has taken a slight dive
its just oli staying well inside his comfort zone

when live drums sound programmed you know the production is bad tbh. his attempts at falsetto's are laughable tho and moments in throne like "make the pain go away" and "throw me to the wolves" "tomorrow i will come back" are so cringe.
|

unfortunately though i can see this album making them fucking huge

"when live drums sound programmed you know the production is bad tbh."
i wouldnt say they sound programmed tho, maybe a bit too sleek and overproduced but programmed is an exaggeration imo
yeah his falsettos arent amazing but theyre passable for me. Throne probably does have the worst lyrics so agreed there.
and yeah this album will be pretty big

programmed probably is an exaggeration, honestly i think this is better than sempiternal still.

I used to get frustrated when I was younger when I'd hear changes like this - I remember poison the well in 2003 with "you come before you" and I was like whaaaa - now it's one of my favorite records. I like "doomed" and a few of the others on here. It's a drain to listen front to back - but live when they can mix and shuffle some of these tracks with the first four albums too will be cool. can't blame them for wanting to sell records and make money in a time where it's almost possible to do both. stupid aspirations, but at least it's something refreshing.

Agreeing on the EP comment. If this were Doomed + Avalanche + Run + Drown, I think it would be absolutely incredible. Some of the songs are super trite, but both Happy Song + Throne have grown on me a bit and sound much better in context of the full body than as standalone tracks. Feeling a 3.24 on this.

^agreed with you. This is one of those albums where less is more. Although I still cannot get into Happy Song or Throne. They're both so cringeworthy
