Who cares if Waves isn't progressively structured in any way, it's one of the most beautiful straight-forward alt-rock songs I've heard. Up there with some of Jimmy Eat World's sweeter tracks.

Waves and A Night on the Town are probably my top two.

I like Old Haunt, but compared to the other acts it's probably the weakest opener.

^I have to agree with that (if you count City Escape as the Act I opener).

I really dislike In Cauda Venenum for some reason, so die-hard dear hunter fans would crucify me. It's probably Casey's screechy vocals that put me off, so good thing he improved on that big time ever since the Color Spectrum.

The chorus used to annoy me a little bit, but I dig that song a lot now

You can really feel the depth on each track and everything is so well orchestrated... Casey's new experience as a classical composer really shows. The reprises are wonderful dips into memorable melodies and clever slips of the tongue that call up old lyrics are wonderfully well-used. "King of Swords" is as excellent as it is quirky, too, and stands out like a sore thumb in the best possible way.

Still, I feel this album hasn't clicked with me yet. Which is fine - it's a dense one, that's how it should be.

I originally felt this was the weakest Act, but now after a few more listens this might be on par with III.
