Opener is pretty sweet but Burton's cleans are so auto tuned on the chorus it takes me out of it quite a bit.

Well, you have to accept autotunation if you listen to Fear Factory. Last time I saw them live it was for transgression tour, are they using autotune now ? Because they should really, I don't mind some average singing, but with Burton it reaches a higher level of "I'm not going to bring a girl to this concert otherwise she'll think I'm the guy with the worst tastes in music she's ever met."

Dude I'm all too aware of it but on here it's more superficial and cheesy than ever. Burton just can't sing anymore sadly.

I feel like this album is either cheesy as hell or epic as hell depending on how much you like all those poppy cleans

Just streamed it from apple music and it's by no means perfect, but I thought it was an enjoyable listen. Auto tuned cleans were a quite jarring at first but considering thye're going for a mechanical sound it sort of works after a while.
Also, has a film ever insipred more music than Blade Runner?

The theremin is strong on this album

Yeah I think this a pretty decent album. The songs are more concise and catchier than anything of The Industrialist so I like this one.
Anodized is one of the standouts for me because it has one of the best choruses on the album, although obviously Expiration Date is going to be the one everyone remembers.

This is damm good, the more melodic elements work well ,the singles (like soul hacker) work better in the context of the album, its poppier and catchy without demanding a sacrifice (heh) from the band, While fear factory always stay samey, the songwriting is stronger, and it sounds less homogenised than mechanise and more inspired and committed than the industrialist, which puts it above Mechanise and rivalling Obsolete, and the closest album they have made recently that nears Demanufacture in my books.
It all just jells together well, they put a lot of time and effort into this one and it clearly shows, i think none of their future albums can peak above this, unless they get more experimental (doubt it) and it pays off.

I like Mechanize pretty much as much as this, I think that benefits from greater extremity, but I'd say that this does manage to be the best written album in terms of flow and hooks since Obsolete. I like it a lot, it's just a pleasant and nicely flowing listen.

Anodized's chorus feels a bit like something from the 80s, in a good way. And I'm not particularly nostalgic.
Expiration Date is absolutely scary in its thematic and treatment.
"Under the surface we're now machines, under the surface we're living dreams."
I mean, the beauty of the song feels a bit like the maniacal smile of a serial killer.
