If you guys wanna 1 this I really don't care I just think it's not fair to comment on what other people are feeling or not feeling and what they should or shouldn't from this or anything else.

but he was just saying that for him he doesnt feel any extra emotion coming off of this release that isnt indicative of any other derivative post rock release

that doesnt mean u cant feel differently

new sufjan and bjorks are both very personal and emotional albums for the artists but they still come off banal as shite to me but that doesnt detract from the fact that for them and others it can be meaningful

I readily admit I may have misinterpreted some of what he said. He did say "seems to me" so I got that. But then "desperately trying" threw cause it made it sound like others aren't conscious of their own emotional involvment (or lack thereof).

Again, I may have misunderstood. I liked Quietest Place a lot (4) and Gallant Gentlemen was very impressive, but I honestly wasn't really sure what to expect coming into this, and thought the chances of it being better than Quietest Place were slim.

So imagine my shock when the climax of Challenger Flight explodes into dust along with that shuttle and that painful whining guitar backs all those poeple freaking out and I'm holding back tears. Just came at me. Didn't have to think about it.

ANYWAY. I'm beating a dead horse here. We can sometimes forget there's always an intersection for our tastes here. This just happens to not be it lol.

I mean I just think Bjork as a person is really interesting. Ever see this movie called Dancer in the Dark?

Shit is messed up.

Bloated I can't really disagree with, thing is monstrous lol.

Metaphoric though is kinda the point. I get some really specific mental images relating to the stories behind the songs.

i never really got that kind of imagery when listening to music.. probably the reason why i think describing a concept in such detail for an instrumental album is just massive overinterpretation

They put a lot of thought into it. Like, Bogatyri is based on an ancient Russian/Folk tale of these 3 legendary knights that were basically the superheroes of their time/area. The three divers were called this by locals after they did what they did. The song ends with guitar noise that starts with all 3 guitars. 2 fade out very close to each other and one goes a bit longer.

The three real-life divers lived for a while afterwards. 2 died very close to each other after about 2 weeks, but one made it an extra week. It's not a coincidence.

The piano at the end of Last Dive is the two bodies on their long journey back to the surface.

I mean, I guess you can say I'm crazy but they picked these stories and worked the music around them and for me it comes through crystal clear.

Is the first track really the best? Cause if so, I'm in for a boring as fuck album.
