i am but seriously i am baffled at people who get anything out of this. it’s like it was made as a joke in a drunken night.

Because the meat of what is actually here is a pretty damn progressive and filthy death metal album. The vocals might kind of funny at points and the demo recording quality might be too lofi for some people but for 1990 this is very forward thinking and those negative elements actually add to the atmosphere and aesthetic for me. The riffs are just sick

I just get the vibe that most of the negative ratings are knee jerk reactions to the poor quality of the recording and a failure to actually digest the music on a meaningful level. I think if it had been properly recorded the reactions to it would be much better, likewise if it was released as a demo instead of a full-length.

maybe but i have to judge it for what it is basically a tape recording where you can’t hear anything and the most laughable vocals ever put to record. i do appreciate your thought process here though, i mean i make the same defenses for like st anger lol. darkthrone are one of my all time favs but i will never get this.

I don’t really find the riffs hard to discern at all and vocals are rarely a make it or break it deal for me, feel like I’ve heard far more strange and out there vocals on other albums. I just see this as their lost sequel to Soulside Journey that leans harder into doom and progressive song structures with loads of cool angular riffing 🐐
