mmm idk. calling it a "summation of his sounds" definitely gives an idea of what to expect element-wise, but it's not like it's a rehash. idk if i would call it an "evolution" but i think there are so many underlying elements here and i can't remember being as affected by a prurient album or enjoying one to this extent. imo, this is the album he needed to make. the length is a bit much but i mean i never disengaged while listening so

i feel ya, but i guess that's just not what fernow does. i touch on it in the first paragraph, so i won't repeat it, but it definitely comes down to whether or not you find value in his approach. i think a 2.5/5 is a fair score given you found it kinda boring

Definitely not boring imo but the praise is a little steep for what really seems like a summation of Prurient's various sounds rather than an evolution.
I wouldn't call this an evolution of his sound. It's more like a total peak of his career - the perfect version of his own sound.
