it's pretty frustrating because the chorus lyrics are apparently

"Give your cruel ride to someone"

but all i hear is

"Give your cruel ride some someone"

I really cant fathom people who love No Stories disliking this album, especially tracks 4-9 on this album for me are all amazing. I really think like a lot of a mew material, you really cant make a call until you are well and truly 5+ listens in. You think you have it figured out after 2-3 listens but you don't it still unveils itself.

It's closest to No More Stories, but this is a lot more streamlined and accessible.

It's not nearly as interesting or enjoyable either.

yeah for sure - this album is very similar to No More Stories, but sounds more like its prequel than sequel - No More Stories was a lot bigger, grander, filling while this is a lot more straightforward

still a great album and while i wished there was just a bit more, it does its job for me

I'm still completely surprised by the response to that song, beefshoes. Usually whena song is popular, I can understand even if I don't like it, but the verses seem so bland. I dunno, but it's a good segue into album ranking:

Cross The River On Your Own

My Complications

Satellites

Witness

Rows

Making Friends

Water Slides

Clinging To A Bad Dream

The Night Believer

Interview The Girls

but the chorus is so fluffy i love it

my top five would look like

Rows

Satellites

Interview the Girls

My Complications

Making Friends

and the rest are pretty interchangeable (i enjoy them all but a tier below all the songs listed above for me)

Excellent way of describing this album.

I definitely agree.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was Mew's plan all the time.

Agreed.

I listened to this after a bottle of wine last night, and it was spectacular.

Made me feel so nostalgic and shit. This was my "coming to age" band back when I was in high school.
