Since it's Wilson I don't really pay too much attention to the lyrics, cause ya know it's wilson, but I love his music so much.
That lyric is pretty lol btw.

@Mythodea lol yeah I saw that. Steven is either cheating or a mega NERD! Mikael just looks slow on the draw.

I don't think he's cheating, given his vast nowledge on the genre and the fact that there's another video with just Steven and he gets 10 out of 15. But yeah, it's impressive.
What made me laugh was when he turned to Mikael and said ''Not obscure enough for you?''

Let me rephrase - I'm not questioning the concept itself, rather Steven Wilson's realisation of the concept. Half of the lyrics are an embarassingly superficial sum up of a tragic story, and let's not start talking about that dumb blog made probably by a Kscope marketing intern.
That's what pisses me off - it's extremely superficial for a touching story that did not deserve it.
If there is one thing I love in music, are concepts on the human mind - 90% of Pain of Salvation's discog, Fragile Vastness' "a Tribute to Life", "The Wall", "The Downward Spiral" are among my favourite discs of all time for this specific reason.
Concepts like these aim to be more than music - they possess this added layer that can, in my opinion, either raise my opinion of the disc or completely destroy it in case it's half-assed. this time is the latter

I dont have that Problem since I dont really care for lyrics in my music. I like sitting down and reading through the booklet while listening but thats all most of the time.
I need to listen to more pain of salvation tho

I guess even Steven would agree that PoS is a better band than PT or himself.
Also, after many listens, my top three:
1. 3 Years Older
2. Home Invasion / Regret #9 / Transience
3. Happy Returns
I'm not to fond on "Ancestral", maybe it will grow on me with more listens.

I just like how Routine progresses. The choir boy vocals are really angelic and the ending is SW's best moment of his solo career imo

A comparison between PoS and PT? That's interesting, but I don't think it could stand. They're quite different. It seems like PoS would win, better vocals, complex music, better lyrics (?), but then again, one could say the overall image of PT is more than equal to the sum of its parts.
