8 string guitars became a fad once this shit band started garnering attention. I seriously hear that Nothing more band playing open F string on the radio and I blame Periphery.

Did Periphery murder that guy's family or something? God damn.

Seriously though I think it's funny that people can get that worked up over music they don't like. There are

plenty of bands that I think are awful but you don't see me throwing fits in all their comment sections.

Don't like it don't listen to it, bam, problem solved.

Also, Deafheaven is awesome.

oy like none of those bands listed sound anywhere close to this. TesseracT sure, but the rest? Djent maybe, pop djent like this lol nope. The whole djent thing gets annoying because it's just another way to create an interesting guitar/drum beat, which sadly gets pounded into the dirt by every band that tries to do it. I sort of blame Tomas Haake for making the idea of using the bass drums to follow the palm-muted notes into a popular fad. It's odd because it's like the drummer doesn't even have to be original anymore; they can just follow the guitarist note-for-note and hey! lookit a cool rhythm.

Periphery aren't a bad band. they get too much recognition around sputnik though, and more deserving bands suffer. Like for example Arcane with their album Known/Learned. Best prog metal album in like 10 years easily and yet people prefer discussing this. Some people can get worked up over this.

known/learned has a higher avg than both juggs and arcane are not nearly as popular as periphery so ofc people are discussing periphery more.. give it time

^^my goodness thats a silly thing to say
its not like the simple musical quality of an album determines popularity, periphery is clearly a more popular band, I hadn't even heard of arcane until last week

OT slightly - did anyone heard of the band VOLA ? They are from Denmark and they released just now their first album Inmazes.. if you like Progressive Metal/Rock/Djent, then that album is for you.. I'm shock myself that the album is so good and that I like it so much - I never heard about the band before, but man, what I nice surprise.. try to check it out
