I got to see him at Ozzfest 03, so a bit late in the classic era if not just beyond it, but he slayed that shit.

Ozzfest 03 was sick. Korn, Chimaira, Cradle. Mansons set was pretty rad at that point too

funny going back to give this a listen...he really is a hack, made the worse that the three times I caught him live he was garbage

this really is 4, maybe 5, decent enough songs and then embarrassing Bowie worship fodder

the previous album is a lot better though, you imagine due to the influence of Reznor

the bluesy late career one, Pale Emperor, is also a tiny bit better than this I'd say

budgie, listened to it three times this week...each time my enjoyment went down, I was thinking I'd bump it to a 3 !

It starts off ok, even with 'Dope Show' being a bit by numbers, and the last song is passable to sign off on.

Dunno, generic, bland, phoney, but the start of the album has energy and he seems invested. Tracks 8-11 have next to nothing to redeem them though.

Back in the day I thought it was a bit better, seeing him live really killed the mystique, one of those artists. Will try 'Pale Emperor' again this week for comparison, just checked 'Holy Wood' and that didn't cut it either.

interesting

i tried to marathon the discog somewhat recently and this one was the only one that stood out as standing the test of time, first 2 LPs are (to my taste) awful, got really bored after the 5th

The four best songs on this are about as good as he got I guess, 'Disassociative', 'Speed of Pain', even the t/t is solid, quite like 'Rock is Dead' and as said before the closer is ok here but prob better live I'm guessing

T/T is incredible.

Coma White is incredible.

Great Big wide is incredible.

Disassociative / Speed of Pain / New Model / Rock is Dead / even the dope show rule hard.
