New one has won me over. It hasn’t entirely ‘connected’ but it’s definitely got something and when it does worm it’s way into the soul it’s fucking spectacular. Pisses all over this one but maybe I should give this another go.

This one has a few absolute quality standouts was my first impression, prefer the new one but I've given that one five listens already. This is definitely at least a 3.5, it's still got a bit of the John Martyn channeled through Arthur Russell channeled through Jose Gonzalez magic

Some of it is a tad wet would be my only criticism lol

Yeah I hear ya with that Gonzalez comparison mate. With Howard in general my first thoughts were ‘here we go, more mass produced, popular dross with no depth’ the new one though is really registering on the heart.

Bloke is definitely talented.

From "Time is Dancing" to the closer is an utterly perfect run of songs. This is dangerously close to Noonday Dream for me.

I would include She Treats Me Well to that string of songs

That's a good song too but I think that may be the weakest for me. Either that or In Dreams but that is beginning to grow on me.

The shine is slightly removed cos Ben looks like a rapist on the album cover.

In Dreams is the first song I heard from this album, and will always be one of my favorites.

"Oh its a big old place for me
yeah its a big old world indeed
Kickin' my heels and wonderin' how I've been here so long"

"Oh in dreams, I have lain in sin
just to be the cracked and the cared for"

Incredibly played, and incredible lyrics.
