Review is spot on. Its almost as if Anders has taken creative control over the band and he just sucks at writing music now.
|
| |
I suppose the band is over now, since you guys don't like the album. Do you seriously think they are going to read this and go ''Oh shit, he's right we gotta break up guys!''

Eons I agree (just less caps next time). ppl are so obsessed with the bands old sound (which really wasn't all that advanced as the metal nerds would have u believe) and they have stated multiple times that it really isn't them anymore. For better or worse I guess.
|
| |
Their sound might have not been advanced, but their songwriting was very satisfying. Music can be simple and still be awesome.

Are you actually having a go at people for giving their opinion on a band IN THE REVIEW COMMENT SECTION?

The verses on this are abysmal. The choruses can be ok at times. But yea, what happened?

On first listen I don't think it's quite as bad as I expected. Definitely a lot of forgettable parts but there are some enjoyable bits. Feelin a 2.5.

Shit. It seems that depending on when In Flames grabbed you has a big influence on the out come of the responses. My first dose of In Flames was Colony, way different than anything coming out of the states at the time. When they really grabbed me was Reroute to Remains. Some of my favorites even to this day are Moonshield and Gyroscope. (From Whoracle and The Jester Race Respectfully) When I heard Rusted Nail (which to me remains the absolute worst song on the album) I thought to myself... Here's there worst album to date... But it's far from that! Being a early fanboy in the 90s and coming out to bash all their current efforts cracks me up. Anders "clean vocals" was a direction hinted all the way back from 2002 in Metaphor. If you've been listening since then and you hate album I find it hard to believe you think it's that terrible. This is not the calamity Metallica is nor a train wreck like Triviums newest effort. It's clearly an evolution in a different direction but still In Flames. They did the same thing in 2006 with Come Clarity. This album in my opinion trumps that effort. The last time I saw In Flames I noticed in the crowd a whole new fan base (not a replacement fan base) that love them in different ways then us old school guys but here we were all together young and old enjoying them the same. History will define this album just like all the others it's far from bad and it's far from some of the steaming pile of crap that churns out of the states on a regular basis. In flames continues their journey writing great music. You can choose to get off whenever you want.
