As you said Choccy, All the Wars had a much stronger capacity of building atmospheres and crescendos, and I
don't see any song on this coming close to the first 4 songs of All the Wars or Reaching Out

This is nice, in a simple and poppy way. I like listening to it. Dammit, I still have to check out their earlier stuff.

Incredible album. the songs are on shorter side and songs are mostly slow but there is almost no filler here. Alone in Sea and the one you left to die are the best tracks. The last track Bond has a surprise solo section. The vocals of Bruce has improved considerably.

Not loving it but it's not horrible.

Agreed, it's just kind of there

The drums on this aren't half as good as on previous albums. I mean, Keith Harrison was definitely not the
greatest drummer of all time, but he had some really interesting parts. Sad he left the band, the new
drummer does the job, but nothing more imo

Sorry Irving, I'm a sucker for poppy tunes . Still, compared to their early stuff, this is quite meh. I might rate it at a 3.2 :D that okay? Not that good, but not that bad either. Variations On A Dream is their best IMO.

Keith Harrison was awesome - his drumming on Little Man and WWHS was incredible, very understated. New drummer is meh agreed, doesn't add much
I've noticed the bass on this is far superior to anything Ive noticed before on their albums
3.2 is about right lol, I'm about a 3.3

Almost every song is either good or great even if there's nothing like "Reaching Out" on here

Yeah, most of it is still greatly done alt-rock. Like Soord said, it works much better as a whole than as
individual songs

"Magnolia is much more satisfying, melodious an rhythmically varied "
Man, more than half of the songs here are in 7/8 (which Soord certainly loves and mastered on previous
albums, but he somehow succeeds in making it sounds so monotonous here) and/or slow-paced semi-ballads. I
don't know how this is rythmically varied.
I just jammed this again after some time, and sadly I feel my rating going down. As much as it seemed like a
grower, it just lost its already quite minor impact

Heard Simple As That on a Kscope sampler, thought it was pretty good.

Most of these are great, only two or three mediocre cuts

swap 'great' and 'mediocre cuts' over and you're spot on
