It's pretty fucking cool. They're still figuring out their shit as far as security, line management, yada yada. Like they did a really shitty job of getting everyone in the door in an orderly fashion haha. New venue shit.
The inside is really fucking nice. They have bars and food on either side of the stage and one behind. They were all really well staffed and the lines were minimal. So they nailed that bit.
Acoustics were fantastic. Not overwhelmingly loud. Everything was very clear. Lighting ruled. Good fucking venue man.

Nice, thinking about seeing St. Vincent there next month.

I'd recommend it. I probably won't be back there too much since they don't cater to the metal/punk scene too much but it was a nice place. Also, there is a Shake Shack next door. Definite plus

rock bands have a tendency to be better live than on the studio, sometimes their energy & charm doesn't translate into the albums

These guys were recently suggested to me so I gave this album and their newest one a spin. I'd have to say that while the rocking energy is nice, the songs do really seem to all sound the same. I'm sure if I listened to them more I'd be able to pick out the variations, but it just sounds so samey across the board. Also, every track feels like it directly rips off one (or more) of the following bands: QotSA, Muse, Rage Against the Machine, and the White Stripes. I get that it's hard for rock bands to come up with new shit these days, but man, it just really felt like a lot of it was directly lifted from other songs. Not saying the albums are garbage, but those things make it hard for me to really get into an album.
I'm sure they are entertaining live though, based on the energy they clearly play with.
