Hybrid Theory is a bit nostalgic and they got some good songs here and there, but I really don't think they are that good of musicians. Hell it might be my anti nu metal stigma talking here but I really feel these guys are just a product of the late 90's/early 2000's. They either are stagnant in what they are capable with or just fall even further like they did with the two previous albums
In short, yeah, Im not a fan of them, but even though I wouldn't be caught dead praising these guys like crazy theres still a part of me that does enjoy them the slightest bit. at least they are improving

Well, tbh, their magic in the hybrid theory era was due to the fusions of multiple styles, the
intensity, the catchiness, the sweet electronic effects and the remarkable voice of chester and the
rap skills of mike ( which were outstanding specially in with you, by myself, forgotten and a place
for my head ), their magic wasn't due to the complexity of their, in fact their instrumentation in
the old era was very simple but it accomplished its puropuse.
This is another reason why this effort is so remarkable, the improvement specially form the side of
brad and rob is really notorious, specially considering how simple the music was.
Nu metal for me is just a hit or miss genre, I now there were acts like shit bizkit, pipe roach
,adema, methods of mayhem or crazytown which were awful but nu metal had snot, sevendust,
nothingface, deftones, soad, mudvayne, crossbredd and more which were pretty good tbh. Usually I
find funny the trauma with nu metal among purist circles considering that genre has been for more
than a decade, most of the generic nu metal detractors think that disliking nu metal is a mechanism
for getting more pussy

Face it hong, soad, old mudvayne and deftones are still nu metal, sure they were more complex than
bands like dope or otep but still they had some key elements of the nu metal bands in albums like
white pony, around the fur the self titled of soad and toxicity ( both bands have
downtuned guitars, murky bass and some hip hop and alt rock stuff in certain sections like drumming
and in the vocal parts
