Basically any of their first three are brilliant so you can't go wrong.

Thanks guys! I'll definitely be looking into this and their other work. It also seems right up my alley anyway.

This - faster and kind of an amalgam of all their stuff to this point.

Above The Weepies - probably the perfect balance between their melodeath and doomier side.

In The Halls - slower, doomier than Weepies (and stuff that came after this album in general), but not dramatically so. A bit "colder" sounding, I would say.

All in all, can't go wrong with any of those three as a starting block, just comes down to your mood.

I've just started listening to Insomnium like a month ago. I started with their debut and continued chronologically. It was a great experience to hear all of their work and tweaks they made through their career. Really cool guys, and this record is really inspired. Ephemeral is so punk ro k lol. It's like rise against with death vocals

Same here, Atari. SO GOOD. I feel like a third of the comments on this album will be coming from me.

Dam, disappointed. First Insomnium album Ive been unable to connect with, finding the riffs and melodies quite middling and sterile, and as a result finding it difficult to get immersed in that typical Insomnium atmosphere. Normally I find their music so evocative but this leaves my mind empty. I find the cleans quite off-putting too.

As a big fan of these guys Ill adopt some perseverance. There are some apects I like, Niilo's vocal performance for one, most varied and rambunctious of his career. But again, the riffs and melodies arent working for me.

Super neat album but somewhat repetitive even for Insomnium. Revelations is easily the best song here.

I'm new to these guys. Revelation sounded pretty sweet, a lot like Dark Tranq. I'll have to give em a shot. What's their best album?

I gave weeping a spin two days ago when I saw this review. Still a damn good album. Looks like this would still be worth a listen
