"youve either never listened to this or youve never listened to the wonder years because wow what a dumb statement"
I mean, they obviously have some similarities.

If Settle The Scar was on here in place of Housebroken this would be the best album ever.

I do feel like I get a small bit of the same aesthetic out of the two, but only a small bit. They're fairly abstract similarities.

Really want to 5 this. Dendron is my new favorite but I agree housebroken is the weakest track, although I enjoy the playfulness of the lyrics.

i think what GB meant was that last year wonder year's was the pop punk album that sputnik adored and now this year its this album. that may not even be fully true, but that's sort of the sense i get as someone who isn't very knowledgeable about the sputnik punk/emo scene

last year wonder year's was the pop punk album that sputnik adored and now this year its this album
A lot of the more prominent Sputnikers hated that album.

i'm not gonna disagree with you bc i don't know what you're talking about and i'm sure you know more about the subject than i do.
i do want to point out, though that wonder years has a 4.1 and this has a 4, so they're both very close in terms of rating.

hey dim do you think i'd dig this?
if it's anything like Braid or SDRE it's prob up my alley. if its more like Empire! Empire!... probably gonna stay away

I'm not saying it's a bad song, I'm just saying its my least favorite among a collection of awesome songs. The last minute and a half is great though.

DimSim's thesis on Sput demographics: Out of the 600-700 people who rated The Greatest Generation and hence contributed to its 4.1 average, there's gotta be a max of 100 of them who qualify as "prominent Sput users". The other 500-600 are randoms who rate like 20 albums and are never seen again. As much as this is a site for anybody to come by and rate albums, it's also a community, and a huge amount of the registered users are just transients who are on the site for like one day. So, when you consider Sput average ratings and/or refer to the site collectively, you gotta understand that a ton of the users on the site--sometimes the majority of an album's raters--are people who don't count as "members of the Sput community".
hey dim do you think i'd dig this?
I personally see this as pop punk heavily infused with emo and indie rock characteristics; overall, I listen to it as more of a pop punk record. Hence, I don't think it's much like any of those bands you mentioned, but it can get a little "whiny" like Empire! Empire! (gotta luv the whiny tho). So, plainly, you should check it out but I'm going to guess it probably won't be up your alley.
I'm not saying it's a bad song, I'm just saying its my least favorite among a collection of awesome songs.
That's fair but I just think it's one of the best songs.

Sea's thesis on Sputnik demographics: album ratings are not an indicator of similarity between artists at all (or quality, really), doing so is just an indicator of your stupidity
|
| |
wasn't saying the artists are similar at all. i was just saying that wonder years was a big pop punk album on sputnik last year and this is a big pop punk on sputnik this year.
go back and read what i said sea.
