I've known this band a few years too. Surprised at how big they're getting worldwide, iTunes top 20 in the US and UK among other countries, Billboard charting in the US... I'd like to see this get big tbh. The Guardian are already covering them. Could be an excellent gateway band for people. It's got some sick riffs all wrapped up in a kawaii J-Pop package. I hate the people who are trying to see some sort of perverse undertones in this though. They're the ones with the problems, if anything.

Also keep an eye out for Black Babymetal. The sub-sub-group within Babymetal which is Babymetal sans Su-Metal.

Speaking of MTH, they're another band that merged J-Pop with metal, but to a much lesser extent. This kinda takes what they were doing but takes it to a whole new level, maxing out the J-Pop and electronica (which is absent in MTH's music) and creating a whole new breed.

I saw a live video of these girls and it was the weirdest fucking thing I've ever seen/heard. I might get this album just out of pure curiosity.

edit: i mean yeah it's a j-pop metal band, but
|

Most of them sound like Children of Bodom scoring an anime. Not that that's a bad thing.
