It's just a fun, alt rock/funk rock track.

I think some people expect all music to be playing on vinyl, while they listen intently with a glass of bourbon and ponder the meaning of existence and are disappointed by anything that isn't groundbreaking or intellectual.

Beck rules. This album did not. I am hoping the new album will.

I dig this, Modern Guilt is under rated and I also really enjoyed The Information.

I've only just started getting into Beck, I'll pick up some of his albums most likely because I like what I'm hearing

His early stuff is more funky and juvenile, but in a good way. Sea change is a great atmospheric and slow paced record. Guero is pretty accessible and rock oriented and The Information has more of an alt rock sound. I haven't delved into much of his 90's stuff but I dig all of his records from the past 15 years.

No JWT, I really like Beck. I love Odelay. That album is fun.
The new song just sounds super dull to me

People change. I hope to God I'm not passionate about the same things I am now in twenty years.

In 20 years I'll be 42 and probably still passionate about Pokemon/Nintendo games so...

Excuse me while I go grab some ice... nah that's fine man, i'm just saying people change, especially musicians, and the music someone makes in their 20's will usually be drastically different from what they put out in their 40s.

I'm not hating on it because it's different. I'm hating on it because it sounds like a Maroon 5 song with better vocals.

I think you're giving the musicians of Maroon 5 a little too much credit then.

Depending on what you've heard, check Sea Change, Odelay, or Midnite Vultures. The run from Odelay to Sea Change is his best.

In a little late on this one, but damn, perfect for Sunday mornings & coffee. Been spinning it hard every weekend.

I commented over two years ago having only heard his hit songs, and jammed this on a whim shortly after seeing that he had won the grammies. The past few days I decided to jam most of his discography, and what a rewarding journey that is. The variety across his albums is so impressive, and I love the genre jumps between calmer records and the more abstract ones.
Hearing this again after two years, it's still such a beautiful listen and deserved the grammy wins for AOTY and rock album of the year that it received. This is my favorite Beck outside of the four record run of Odelay - Sea Change.

The Odelay-Sea Change run is where it's at... This is my least favorite of the 7 Beck albums I know though. In general I like him a lot less than I used to.

He's one of the most versatile musicians of mainstream music. This is the perfect companion album to Sea Change.

It's pleasant but very much the inferior of Sea Change imo.
I should probably check the albums between Guero and this at some point, for completion's sake, but nowadays I don't really care enough to...
