ya i suppose, sorry, i find it easy to get ganged up on and feel defensive *shrugs*
the only real thing i have against this album is the structuring and how it felt half-baked to me, and the interludes. i really dig dream house, i just wish the rest was as good

This is one of the few albums that get a pass for interludes, mainly because they flawlessly flow from song to song.

to me they really don't, the first one is nice but please remember and windows are both really terrible to me, mostly because they seem so out of place like i'm jumping into a different (and worse) record altogether (windows was especially bad)
and i felt like vertigo and the pecan tree really needed more work

Not even that drill thing or that hour long spoken word, gy!be-worship? I've always thought those were annoying, they stopped me from continuing to listen to the album a few times

i think in godspeed they really work but here it just really seems like filler to try and inject more 'meaning' into the album where it doesn't need it. that and the composition itself just isn't interesting - really tacky piano on a really simplistic loop that gets really annoying.
i think the reason windows annoys me so much is that it's 100% unnecessary and it doesn't even match the theme of the album for me. with please remember if it were just the guitar part in the last few minutes i'd perhaps be more forgiving but eh.
the album would have been just fine without either of those tracks, it wouldn't have lost even a bit of its power. it's why it annoys me they're even there. without them the album would have been 48 minutes which i thought would have been a perfect length, and if they had touched up vertigo and the pecan tree it would have been a really great album
so yeah the reason i don't like this is because i love what the record is getting at but it just never, ever gets there because i think it needed more refinement and time to mature *shrugs*
the album is covered in such great moments - dream house is great, the 3 minute mark in the title track is so good but then my interest just ends there and it's such a shame

Just watching people look like they're undergoing divine epiphanies to such shitty music is priceless.
At 11:10 the vocalist/priest grabs the head of one of the acting fags and tries to cure him of aids.
Truly compelling stuff.
