i've been a fan of some of arcade fire's work before, but never bought into the hype or thought that they were one of the best bands of their genre. i certainly didnt think they were capable of this. this is thoroughly gorgeous and affecting, and manages to tell a captivating story throughout despite being entirely instrumental. i hope they decide to deviate and make another album like this, because it's by far the best thing i've heard from them.
