Evidence's chorus = "Hang up a sheet/between our things/won't have to see/evidence/you did what you did/the memory lives/nothing cleans/evidence"
So yeah. It may have felt like an experimental side project, but if that's the case I like it more than their main band. The lack of hooks meant they had to rely on their brilliant lyrics and sheer emotion instead, and they nailed it.

minty, while it's good to hear they've returned to form, it's not the quality of this that scares me off. tbh even though it's 5 and i wrote a 5 review for it i can't listen to futures anymore. i don't wanna say i've outgrown it but... i don't have a need for it the way i did before (thank god). so with people calling this a quintessential breakup album, i already know it won't hit home that hard lyrically, and musically i haven't been listening to this style of music (a lot of classical). so it's tough for me to say that i'm in the right state of mind to evaluate it right now

yup. so boring. pretty but boring. can't believe there's some negativity around this album. it's so clearly a return to form. seems like people either love it or hate it. seen a bunch of extremely positive reviews and some extremely negative.

i think people have too high of expectations and are always expecting a futures part 2 or something. this is solid stuff not their best but in no way is it bad.

btw there's an alternate, full-band version of "you were good" on amazon.co.uk for free download. sounds a bit like a demo, the guitar is horribly brash. interesting though.
