Review is on the money. Lacks dynamics. I don't care if its black metal normal or whatever you want to call it, but the vocals are absolutely monotone. Same tone, same pitch, same patterns over and over. The chord progressions are boring 4/4 'been there done that.' Does the album have good atmosphere? Yes, definitely. Does good atmosphere override other negatives? No. Most of the criticisms here are not necessarily directed towards just this band, but really anything in the 'post-xxxx' or atmospheric black metal genres. They get way too caught up in atmosphere and the songwriting suffers greatly for it. Just like how 90% of tech death bands get caught up in the technicality and songwriting suffers.
