Saw them tonight for this album's anniversary tour, and they still got it. Sound as good as ever

They never play the northeast anymore so I don't get any chances to see them.

I feel your pain. For a long time no bands came to northern CA outside of like aftershock type stuff. Or they'd only come to the bay area

shallow seas has always been a fav of mine but for some reason never went back and heard this. what a shame that was! love the legit midwest emo influence this has, the slower twinkly parts are beautiful. very get up kids. and nobody has ever done vocal interplay like these guys have, just absolute peak. each so distinctive, especially those screams. nobody else has come close to how satisfying the interplay is here. shallow seas has god tier hooks and this is a slight step down but still very great. such tight songwriting and surprisingly intricate building melodies.

walls is definitely my fav and love that's the opener, a perfect tone setter. but also you got ponytails, fractions, under serious attack and the secret. a few lesser songs but overall excellent.

Yeah this is a special album. Would be my favorite if I wasn't so nostalgic for Shallow Seas.

These guys still put on a fantastic show too. Saw them play this twice over the past year lol

Haven't seen them since like 2009 but they were excellent the two times I got to see em. So much talent!

Seeing Devin absolutely destroy the high parts on By All Accounts was sublime

The Question is great, but definitely behind this and Shallow Seas. Studying Politics is an all time great song though

on such a kick of this stuff. i love the early poppy post-hardcore wave. still early enough where they had that residual midwest emo influence and legit riffing.

I wish I knew more of it, I feel like my knowledge is pretty limited in that era. Ecnalzen is the guy for that type of post-hardcore but I haven't seen him post in a minute

fr ecal is the man. silverstein, senses fail and emery are the clear ones that stand out. but of course open to more recs. sometimes you just need an album full of hooks.
