I mostly rate albums I like. Its not that difficult to get. Most things I rate are a 3.5 or 4. Which again going by my rating system, where 3 is average, makes all the sense in the world.

All rating systems go like mine. For a movie 2 stars out of 4 is average. For school a C is average. In your system if you got a 14 on a test that would be positive. Its dumb as hell.

Why would you put equal focus on music you don't like. Why should an album get halfway up the ladder just for not being bad

Because its average. Thats what average means. Halfway. In the middle. The mean.

Not a bad idea for a rating system.



I'd go for a different approach though. Ratings would go in intervals of .25 and below 2.5 there would only be 2 (poor) and 1 (terribad).
