yeah xo and fig 8 are way more immediately accessible
the lo-fi stuff ain't for everyone but man if/when they click there's nothing like it

I saw you say that in his threads, kinda what inspired me to check him out cos like I said I trust your judgement. Will stay up heaps late tonight and just go through all his stuff cos hey what else is there to do.
Which one is your favourite btw?
|
| |
it really depends on my mood but i will always have a soft spot for roman candle
right now it's fig 8 but yeah my top three are RC/XO/F8
copy/paste from what i said in fig 8 thread:
roman candle for chilling and driving
s/t for when you hate life and want to wallow in it
either/or for introspection
xo for driving in the summer sun and bein optimistic
fig 8 for that mix of gorgeous hope and crushing devastation
basement for three day benders and hating life and not giving a shit
|
| |
but that's just me idk everyone has different emotions attached to each
the s/t and either/or are both popular choices for people's fave too

Yeah fair enough we all interpret and take shit differently. Think I prefer s/t over Roman Candle so far but that's probably because it's more immediate. Coming Up Roses and Alphabet Town are quite brilliant though.

Oh man the Biggest Lie was woah.
Since I'm listening to who I assume is your favourite artist, you should return the favour and jam Invented by Jimmy Eat World if you haven't already, could be my favourite album ever.
|
| |
frusciante is prob me fave but only very slightly ahead of elliott
yeah man used to jam bleed american and futures a fair bit when i was 18/19 will check invented for sure!
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.4
Oh ok fair enough but still. It's a different beast and not everyone digs it but I can't find a dull moment on there, although it's definitely a grower. Title track is the best thing ever.

Yeah love it when they get in a female vocalist works so well with Jim's voice.
Btw, have you heard their early albums? Cos the other vocalist, Tom, who sang on those albums sings one song on Invented and it slays.
|
| |
the earliest one i have is clarity but i haven't listened to it in probably 7 years so i can't remember anything, did he sing on that?
i keep meaning to go back and check the even earlier stuff but you know how it is so many records so little time

He sung one song on Clarity, Blister, but he was lead on their first album and he and Jim were both co-lead on their second, Static Prevails. I highly recommend SP as well it's a beast of an album, definitely their heaviest. But yeah I know man there's so much shit to check out, still haven't got all the way through Frusciante's dicsog yet :/
Btw, Elliott was in that band Heatmiser before he went solo, right?
|
| |
sweet man i'll just download all the JEW records
yup elliott was in heatmiser, mic city sons is a good record but i haven't heard their others
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.4
Hmm cos JEW dropped a reference to that song Half Right on Kill from Futures and covered it on one of the EPs. Haven't heard the original but the cover's pretty sick, but is it an Elliott song or a Heatmiser song?
|
| |
oh yeah no shit!
I PICK UP PUT DOWN THE PHONE LIKE YOUR FAVOURITE HEATMISER SONG GOES IT'S JUST LIKE BEING ALOOOOONE
pretty sure it's the last track on MCS
|
| |
yeah just checked me itunes it's a heatmiser song with elliott singing
elliott and the other dude neil shared singing duties bout 50/50 i think

Oh cool was the other guy a good singer and songwriter? Love it when bands have two or more lead singers makes it that much more interesting.
If you're DLing their stuff make sure you get the Stay on my Side Tonight EP, that has the Half Right cover and also Disintegration which is like one of their best songs.
