This is definitely a sophomore slump.

I didn't say it wasn't.

ahahah "sophomore slump"
Maybe in terms of shitty generic deathcore. Less screams more cleans. And the ambience is great. Leaps and bounds better than the sorta-shitty Exoplanet, who's best songs were the atmospheric ones with cleans here and there

Regardless of the bad moments on this album, gotta say Cortical and Anatomy Anomalies are gold.

most of the album is gold imo. had it not been for the last track being pointless and the second to last one being to short it would be an easy 4.5 or 5 even

I agree about Parallel Trance, but have to say that Solipsis was way too much. This album works best for me when it's a delicate balance between atmosphere and riffs - Cortical's the perfect example.

Nomos, you really think Exoplanet was shitty generic deatchore? Also sorta-shitty?
I guess this album is more your style, but I personally liked the fact that there was a great blend of genres in the last album and don't like the fact that this one isn't even Cynic lite.
This really doesn't even deserve that positive of a comparison, but whatever.

definitely some great moments, but in terms of consistency, their first two releases take the cake

Listened to it more, it's not bad. Any music that can make me comfortably dazed is good in my book

um exoplanet and this shit all over their EPs

Well Exoplanet was tiresome in many deathcore moments, what made me love that album were the melodies. Like Primal Directive, Flourish etc. Some chugs were great too, like the "You have been defined" part, but many of them just sting the ears to be honest

Some songs on this album are amazing. I really think that these guys' next album will really begin to
display the greatness that we started to witness with Exoplanet.

The result of a band listening to people's retarded ideas about how they should sound, and all the hate that deathcore receives.
Instead they should have just made an exoplanet carbon copy, with a bit of jazz fusion that made them stand out as the best deathcore has to offer. Now they find themselves in some disjointed musical limbo that sees the music constantly racing towards something but never going anywhere.
Don't tour constantly, rush an album in 2 years, and try to make huge steps forward. BABY STEPS.

whereas they CLEARLY listened to people's hate on the heavy and ambient aspects of their music. hense
why all those parts now suck and don't last as long, making the music sound disjointed.

Album is great: less of a heavier tone, more progressive in my opinion.
