I feel extraordinarily dumb for just discovering this band and what an absolute riff monster Jeff Loomis is...

I was going to check them out until I read that they don't bother to have him write for the group

Riff monster? But it's his sweeps we're here for.

Been jamming this a few times this week, this band rips. I’ve been a fan of Sanctuary for years and never bothered with Nevermore till now

This album was one of the first metal albums I really fell in love with.

That's pretty dope, a good place to start. I got into metal via Disturbed AMVs and DragonForce lol (thanks Guitar Hero)

Psalm of Lydia is just one of the best songs ever made regardless of genre. Absolute classic 10/5 song.

Hype would be the one to ask bro. I've only ever heard this and Dreaming Neon Black in full. Which is 100% my fault cause I know their other stuff rules too lol.

it’s all good so you really can’t go wrong.

politics of ecstasy is super heavy thrash/groove metal. dreaming is their most moody and grunge influenced but still has a ton of killer riffs. dead heart is them at their most ballady and introspective but is just nearly perfectly crafted modern metal. and then enemies is their angriest and most brutal record. self titled and the last one are the worst ones but with any band of this caliber their “worst” is still better than most bands ever even get.

^^I humbly beg to differ, Nevermore (as well as In Memory) kills and should not be put in the same sentence with the last album.

For unfiltered 80's thrash purity, check Sanctuary - Refuge Denied.

Oh I've listened to Sanctuary for years now, I'm a big fan of Into the Mirror Black, saw them live in 2018 (sadly right after Warrel died). Even got Lenny and Dave to sign a record of mine.

Thanks for the summary Hype, listening to Enemies of Reality right now \m/
