The more melodic and memorable it is the more I'll like it
I love experimental stuff but only to a point. If it sacrifices making the music enjoyable then I typically shy away from it

Enjoyable is a very subjective term though

Typically I don't appreciate a cacophony of random noises (this has its exceptions of course, such as a number of animal collective records). I like stuff that branches out into new territory but is still cohesive enough to be memorable.

It might be actually. It's nowhere near as poppy as this, but it's incredibly memorable in how dense and layered it is. It's easily one of my favorites of theirs.

This is a pretty insanely complex but still really catchy and poppy album, so I love it.

do you realize were all going to die, everyone you know and love is going to die, and were on a tiny particle of the entirety of the universe floating in space without control or purpose
yeah real encouraging stuff there ayyy

It's all about making the most of the time you have though. If you're only picking out the depressing stuff from that song you're not seeing the forest for the trees
