Haha, you're right it was hardly the most original comment in this thread but it's true. I probably wouldn't have even listened to this yet if I hadn't read this review, which raised my expectations a lot higher.

I'll take that as a compliment JT... Hopefully a few others with negative preconceptions about the album will do the same as your good self.
Can't believe it as well foxxxy... Your insightful opinion may change the direction of this whole thread.

Step 1: Be wary.
Step 2: Listen
Step 3: Be amazed at how much you like it.

Concentrate on getting the poptarts just right, but in the meantime...
Heads = 3.5
Tails = 4

Haha, well what we have here is definitely a valued VH comeback, albeit with a couple of the silliest rock songs known to man. It doesn't sound dated however, and there is some real heaviness going on here too. The band's next album (if indeed there is one) will probably be a killer, if the band can keep this sort of momentum going.

It's VH, so i expected a few silly rock songs anyway.
If they do release another album (& I wouldn't put the house on that), it will be interesting to see which direction they go in.

Just bought this a week ago and I have to say it is way better then expected! 3.5 is a fair rating. If this album was cut down to the best 8 songs (like they were in the good old days) it would have been a 4. A bit too much filler but I'm impressed by how good Eddie sounds!

Eddie, Alex and to a lesser extent Roth's musical performances totally make this album.

Well said unholypassion. I wouldn't even say 'filler", but rather the extra quantity of tracks makes a few of them blur together a little too much.
Agreed Strizz. In that order too.

Similar to Mr Big's comeback album: good technically but not the same feel from the old days.
Do you think that there's too much distortion on Eddie's tone?
I think that since Ed stopped to use Marshall and strats his tone has never been the same.

Well, I'll never even begin to suggest I know the technicalities of guitar playing & equipment, but I think the guitar tone is just fine here. I think Eddie gets the (for want of a better word) compromise just right, between updating his playing sound, while also keeping his trademark distinctiveness. If it was the same feel from the old days, it may well have come off just a little too dated.

You forget that Tattoo would suck even more if you had to press fast forward until you get to the end of the song and accentually go to far and have to rewind..........

Umm, yeah... I so should have put that in the review.
