and @andcas: A lot of the big names in YM overuse hashtag, yeah. Nicki DEFINITELY does. (her first part on Make Me Proud was soooo good so I just cringed when she got into her "I'm a star...SHERIFF BADGE" deal). Drake is kind of done with it, tho. The "All of your flow's bore me, #paint dryin" line on the first song is just basically commenting on how people used to say he bit Big Sean and now he's like "Psssh. I only used that flow for a few of my songs and not even on my albums, I've BEEEN bored with it and you're still using it Sean". and I don't think anyone else on YM uses it.

Idunno, this has some pretty bad examples.
"Haha, they was sleepin on me...ZZZZZ"
"As for your career? Dead...ghostbuster"
"Party time, excellent #Wayne's World"
and regardless of this all I still absolutely love Nicki's persona and I don't know why. I kind of feel like she's beyond saving now, though. She had SO much potential but with the blowing up of Pink Friday and all of her latest songs where her rapping is...ugh, she's definitely not going to be very good aside from a few verses maybe.

though actually the Wayne's World reference was so out of the blue and "what the fuck?" that it kind of becomes cool

This is probably my favorite "weird, futuristic pop" song of the year. Soulja Boy's gotten so good this year it's mindblowing.

Song is fucking terrible

How was it bad? It's just this positive, flow-of-consciousness song that just sounds almost alien and just gives this carefree atmosphere.
"But it has terrible shitty autotune shit bullshit"
but the auto-tune is what makes it so amazing. The song wouldn't be anywhere near as good if it was some fantastic singer using those happy, uplifting melodies.

Soulja Boy actually does have a fair amount of talent. I think he started getting artistic integrity as of 2010 but he has some great songs from a conventional hip-hop viewpoint

but anyway, he kind of just made his own proto-#Based style of rapping. A lot of his songs this year has the same appeal as Lil B's cooking songs.

and then there's this Memphis-style song over a Kingpin Skinny Pimp beat, where he does great with his flow
also, this thread is now about Soulja Boy and I'll report you if you talk about Drake since you'll be going off topic

Album is pretty good, but I don't know...reminds me too much of Kanye, both the production and his boasts.
