Hmm maybe in the heavier songs but the haziness works in its favour on songs like Swallow or A Realisation imo

Could never really get into this album. It's decent for what it is but I found it boring compared to their debut. Guess they just set the bar really high for themselves.

Casey leaving was definitely a blow but thank god they didn't try to make another BTH and instead used it as an excuse to evolve. They handled it superbly imo

Well I think ditching the theatrical bent and going for atmospheric was a very smart choice

Picked this and Between The Heart up pretty soon after they broke up, which saddened me to no end because these were my favorite albums around that time. I loved BTH, but this engulfs me each time I listen. The closing pair of "Heir" and "Pale Blue Dot" are enough to make me love this endlessly, but I remember being so drawn in by the accompanying background TREOS posted on its site. Kepler's theory and the storyline for the album itself just seem so cinematic with the instrumentals supporting it.

That and Pale Blue Dot are my favorites on this
The atmosphere, the incredible musicianship, the tremendous choruses, I love this album so dearly
what keeps you from bumping it to a 5?

The atmosphere on this is definitely something special
I'll be honest I hate Smoke and Mirrors, especially the chorus is just pure rubbish. Aside from that (and Wanderers, which is just ok) I love all of this but its not on the level of BTHATS which is an all-time album for me

Smoke and Mirrors chorus does kinda suck but i like the rest of the song. Fair enough tho
I used to be in love with that album but it just sounds a little bit too busy to me now, I think this is far more consistent and rewarding. That said, the climax to the end of that album is spectacular.

Yeah I guess it's just a v special album for me. I wrote an incredibly long-winded, adjective overdose review of it if you want my explanation why but basically it has a very special aura for me, it's almost more like a labyrinth of noise than it is an album and every listen I just find a little bit more to love about it

I can totally see that, it is an incredibly dense album haha. Ohh also that fucking part in Flee the Factory, It's easier to bowwww than keep these KNEES LOCKED TIIIIGHTTTT
