Vocals dock this a .5 - totally unnecessary addition and are below average
They give the album an unfortunate 'support band soundcheck' vibe whenever they pop up D:

Pots they're objectively not that great on this release but if you find them charming that's your deal
I don't think they add anything, there's only about five minutes of them in total anyway :/

They are objectively essential to the album
Like you listened to like 4 mildly obscure albums and now all the sudden you think you have important opinions wtf ur legacy aint shit

I hate the O word, rarely wheel it out. They only have a .5 sort of impact but its there.
Pots I'm not trying to develop 'obscure' taste or become a 'genre authority'.

After five listens I'm still preferring Flood (which might be a 5) and this is down to a 4, I get that this is a love letter to the 'rock performance' but those vocals are just a bit too on the nose for me in that regard :D
Sorry about that, heaven forfend, god save my soul.

I love how it's always acceptable for people to post generic comments of adoration when something is nearly universally loved, but when someone out of the norm challenges it people get all pissy

My comment is basically an indirect inquiry. Please, someone explain to me why this is worth so much praise. I'm trying it again right now because it's been a while, but I'm 9 minutes in and absolute nothing has happened

I like the concept of this. Seems like it changes from drone, to drone rock, to something like post metal, and then noise and noise metal. And it's pretty seamless. Some of these sections drag out way too long though. There's just no reason for sections like the first 10 minutes to be so damn long. It's tedious to sit through
After the 20 minute mark things start to get pretty interesting. Vocals are a little grating after a couple minutes tho. It bothers me that after 15 minutes of boring amp feedback we finally get a first glimpse at an actual melody. The rest before it (and a lot after it too) is protracted nonsense. If some of these movements were condensed to make the song 20 minutes, I think it would be superb. But I just don't need to listen to 15 minutes of essentially nothing to get me in the right headspace for this. A mere 2 or 3 minutes of that feedback would have done just fine
