Not even remotely true. If you actually listen to the technical composition on this, they're actually (at least back when this album was released) rather proficient songwriters. The guitar lines make sense, and are amalgamated very well with the vocals to make it flow as one fun, cohesive unit.
Emmure's older work was "let's spam random guitar lines here and there to make it sound catchy, but we don't actually know how to write songs."

I couldn't really get too much into Goodbye to the Gallows, it was catchy and a few songs were great jams, but I like this a lot more.

Yeah I'm not saying its the benchmark for core music or anything, half the songs are hits (sleeping princess, rusted wet dreams, henna tattoo) but half are godawful misses. Its been like 4 years since Ive listened to this though so I might be over/underrating it
