He didn't mean it sounds like Old Raves End. He meant that it should get the same recognition as that album did earlier this year (after he wrote a 5 review for it).

all yours is a new addition to my "songs to have sex to" list (along with pretty much the rest of this album, tbh)...

Uh, actually, wubs does not make dubstep. Skrillex is not really the definition of dubstep at all. Wubs are what are KILLING dubstep.
It's called sarcasm
I was under the impression dubstep generally required a 2-step and manipulated sound clips of a voice or vocals made to create a new melody or new musical part for a song. I'm way new to the genre, do correct me if I'm wrong.
The step in dubstep does refer to 2-step/garage but in most cases you're never going to hear a straight garage line. Think more like a garage beat slowed down to around 120-140bpm. And no, vocals aren't a necessity. And they don't have to be samples, live vocals are more than fine.
Dubstep flourishes were mentioned, I just wanted to know where, I'm not on about anything, dude. I'm asking to be enlightened. Chill.
I'm chill, don't worry. But if you admit to being new to the genre/still learning etc you'd be wise to drop faux-condescending comments such as: You are aware that dubstep requires actual dubbing, right?. Trust me I am aware, and as I've pointed out in the review it's all in this album

nothing new

Ah, pardon the "faux-condescending", it actually wasn't intentional. Honestly, that post was a collaborative effort. Meaning it was mostly a friend without an account who says he "knows about dubstep" and wanted me to ask. I actually humbled it up, but that escaped my editing.
Either way, thanks, that makes a lot more sense. Also, I knew you were being sarcastic, I just meant, well; I know wubs don't make dubstep, and I know Skrillex isn't the definition.
Thanks for the reply. Good review.

this shits legit!
itll probably get up to atleast 4.5. couple tracks im not really digging, but perhaps time and more listens will change that.
|
| |
Not sure, no. Getting less sure he knows.
However, he's added this to his questioning: "I didn't mean it had to be vocals. But something has to be dubbed in, dub music consists of remixing other music and "dubbing" it into something new. Isn't the dub in dubstep from dub music?"
|
| |
What does he mean by "dubbed in" and "dubbing"? tell him to stop making up words.
And what he is on about in regards to making it something new? And yes, the dub in dubstep conveniently refers to dub
|
| |
I think he's talking about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubbing_%28music%29
Which I don't think has anything to do with Dubstep
|
| |
Well I thought that but I didn't think anyone would be that idiotic to mix the two up

Yeah, he must have had the two mixed in his head. Or something. I'm done parroting questions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dub_music
I think that's specifically where the mixup came from.
