guys i wanna say the 5s given are credible and that people have good reasons for thinking this is a classic but
"It has to be rated "classic."rReason being an artist just got #19 yesterday in MP3 downloads on Amazon for picking up instruments and singing. That alone is amazing in today's music industry. "

guys i wanna say the 2.5s given are credible and that people have good reasons for thinking this is average but my friend said
"Calling a CD The Color Spectrum is just so stupid, it's music, colours are things you see, not things you hear."

yeah but besides the fact that's terribly communicated that is a gripe i have with it. yeah sure its just an excuse to write different styles of music but cmon could you pick anything less describable by music than something that is literally only describable by what it looks like

hahaha
in my head the colours match up well but as i noted at the end of this review the structure of the record does a good job to accentuating the features of a song that are present in the ones around it thereby making it sound like it fits perfectly with the colour of its EP even though the closing track could be on like Orange or even Red and people would still say it fit perfectly.

idk man like im pretty sure if you showed someone an EP without the color specifications they would not be able to go RED or BLACK or whatever
and i know thats not the point but uuuugh its so fucking wanky

do understand this but i think this is a psychological thing. you see "Red" and you think "yeah this does sound like red!" but thats just backwards attribution

^ what this guy said.
Most people get the implication of an emotion or feel or something from seeing colors. If you see a painting that's all blue colors it'll probably make you feel different than it would if it was the exact same paintings (lines and what not) but of a red hue instead. Why do you think there's an entire genre of music called "the blues"? They're not talking about the Blue Man Group. They're talking about the emotion and feel of the music.

that's what i meant qwe lol more like attribution by association but yis

"Why do you think there's an entire genre of music called "the blues"?"
it's called the blues because it originated from extreme hardship. so uh yeah.
"Most people get the implication of an emotion or feel or something from seeing colors"
yep thats arbitrary and it is completely different everywhere and everywhen
you know pink was originally a masculine colour and blue was associated with girls? yep.
"you're being overly analytical."
lol ok 5/5
"If you see a painting that's all blue colors it'll probably make you feel different than it would if it was the exact same paintings"
good example would be picassos blue and rose periods but thats still arbitrary. it's because of HIS sorrow that we in turn attribute a level of sorrow to his paintings. we werent like Oh this is blue im all sad.

yeah which i explained later in the same exact post was associated with it because WE gave it that connotation. not because people went "oh man blue sounds and looks like sadness." "YEAH! i was totally just thinking that!"
the blues' music does not describe a color, it (originally, anyways) described the hardship faced by black people in slavery. it was called the blues because we already had that "the blues" thing going do describe being down in the dumps.
nowadays it's defined by its own developed sound.
black is a color of mourning in certain places but you know french nobility in arond the 1600s mourned in white? hmmmmm
learnt that literally a week ago so glad i could use that lol

"'it's called the blues because it originated from extreme hardship. so uh yeah.'

Precisely what I meant by that.

It's kind of a huge "duh" that it doesn't mean the same thing for every one. This album is just Casey's vision of that, obviously. He was experimenting with it. In some people's opinion, it worked. In others it didn't.
Now can we drop the color bullshit?

soo you gave it a 2.5 because you don't agree with the colors? ok lol. even if you took the names of the ep's and jumbled them around so that black was blue, yellow was indigo, etc. it would still be awesome.

yep thats arbitrary and it is completely different everywhere and everywhen
it's fair to say that casey doesn't give a damn so much
he's said, to paraphrase by shitty memory, that obviously everybody interprets colours differently and it's just how he thought of it. it's not like an objective hammer of HEY GUYS THIS IS WHAT VIOLET SOUNDS LIKE, SPY MOVIES AND BROADWAY!
he didn't put as much thought into it as a lot of people figure, he moreso put his energy into making a buttload of good music. from that stance, i would say to hell with analysing what the colours sound like
