christians can have songs praising god and shit but atheists can't have songs stating their beliefs
lol fucking hypocrisy everywhere

It fits in context far better here. It is surrounded by more substance...though to be completely honest Rivers is perhaps a tad too british

2 listens and might have to bump it already to 4.5. That one-two punch of One Foot Before The Other and If Ever I Stray rules so hard.

5 on first listen? :O

I like England but I just don't find living on an island to be a relatable concept in the slightest...it's still a good song. English curse is like the fitter happier of the folk world.

Also, "Glory Hallelujah" isn't naive or annoying. Do you Christians get angry at Christian rock as well? People have opinions, deal with it. I can listen to Anberlin without going "This is so naive, he SHOULD be questioning God, as well as those he 'chose' to carry on his cross."

Yeah, English Curse is a little toooo patriotic for me. It's like he's become one of the people he used to complain about.
|
| |
He plays english folk songs live, so having seen him do that sort of thing before a few times i can totally understand why it's on the album and it doesnt bother me because it's almost expected to me.

OK to set things straight: Glory Hallelujah isn't naive because of the side Frank's taking. It's naive because of the CONTENT. God knows there's plenty of incredibly naive "pro-religious" songs out there. It goes both ways.
My point is simply this. If this song is "the anthem" for all of you atheistic wannabe intellectuals, then you ain't too bright. All the song says is "There is no God, so life's a party." Doesn't take even a wannabe intellectual to know the issue goes much deeper than that. And there's plenty of FAR more intellectual songs to support the other side of the debate.
The fact is that Frank Turner is just as religiously and philosophically naive as anyone else, and is simply spouting off his humble opinion. And that's all there is to it. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing much to it.

Glory Hallelujah as a fun Utopian rant? Totally fine. Glory Hallelujah as a philosophical battle-cry?
Rather silly.

Starting to think this is better than Love, Ire & Song. Can't wait to see him for the first time in the summer!

I don't think frank turner mentioned anything about philosophical battle cries, brooo. You're just throwing the word naive around because you don't agree

No you don't get it every song ever written about religion must provide a watertight argument with a full bibliography.
