As mentioned, had the frontman not used the band to voice his opinions and promote his intellectual onanism the band would have been all the better for it. I'd like to hear what his bandmates have to say. They did really seem to know that they're in for a shitstorm in the community.
I did attend a well-renowned university and his attitude doesn't surprise me. I met a lot of people who thought they knew something just because thay are in such and such educational institution. Surprise, surprise - they didn't.
Also, there could be a dissertation on the coupious errors in logic of his manifesto. Yes- I've read the whole thing ...
Edit;
... or not. There's a whole book ?
Anyway - don't you, people, think that Deathspell Omega is, ideologically, Liturgy done right ?
To me their arguments just make sense.
Gave the whole thing a listen. Generation - the djent-y one is ok. Otherwise; at best it's a semi-directed, tremolo-picking driven jam session, at worst - it's like listening to a transmission from a bee-hive.

my disco + black metal

Singers the most pretentious asshole I've ever seen. Music rules so hard. Your right about the chanting in Glass Earth being laughable. Great review!

the hell is this? its on almost every year end list ive seen but its hated here
|
| |
it gets most of its hate because the frontman is such a massive dicksucker
the music is pretty bad too but not as bad as some would lead you to believe

the music does some interesting things, not terrible but not exactly fantastic either. like hyperion said, it's mostly because of HHH and his intentions. if you saw interviews of him you'd understand why some people get upset

other websites seem to be pretty caught up in how "unique" it is while forgetting to critique it properly
because it is in fact bloated beyond anything forgiveable
i don't really care much about HHH's interviews

Never bothered to watch the interviews and I still think it's shit.

it really does have awesome drumming and the screamo vox are great as well. with good execution this band could slay so hard.

Hendrix is a loathsome individual, but i respect the band for not dressing up like douchebags like most BM bands

I'd rather a band get all corpse painted out and have good music than look normal and have their music be boring, like these guys.
But image doesn't really mean shit when it comes down to it.

that i'll 100% agree with

fair point hawks, i just don't like the way they get shit from trve kvlt fans for not dressing up and stuff. I mean, there's plenty of valid reasons to dislike them anyway
|

I don't know anyone that gives a shit whether or not they dress up. (Shit, Fell Voices' guys are all like beardies in skinny jeans.) Their music's just not really any good.

yeah, the music is definitely the most important thing. and all things aside, the music here shows promise in some areas but overall is not that amazing

this album, to me, comes across as a more irritating, more bloated version of 777 Sects, minus the industrial sections that album had to break up the tedium.
I mean, the core sound on both records is good, but with Sects, there's just not enough variety spread out through the album (and as a result, the whole thing tends to blend together), whereas on this thing, i actually CAN differentiate the tracks, but there's not enough variety on the tracks themselves. They're repetitive as fuck and fail at creating any sort of atmosphere.

No troll, I seriously think that most people here don't like this because it's not kvlt-sound. It's not post-rocky, atmospheric or folky and it's not kvlty. There are some pretty serious trends here, one of which includes incredible finickiness (yes that's a word, fuck you) about black metal sounding a certain way.
It also doesn't help that it gets accolades from "hipsters", and that it's pretentious as fuck -- but the music? Naw, this site isn't very objective about that.
troll back on
lolfags don't like panda bears in their bm what can I say
