Would you care to explain as to why you think it was so bad?

Not really. I felt that way with Toxicity, but you never get that vibe with any other System of a Down album.
|
| |
All of their albums are seriously messed up, lyrics and songs. I'm not saying they're bad, just messed up.

What do you mean exactly when you say they are "messed up"?

IMO Hypnotize is the best song on here. Im sorry but the other ones lose steam after 3 or 4 listens.

I don't think "Dreaming" loses its steam. There are so many lyrics piled up onto each other in the verses that it takes so many listens to pick them up.This Message Edited On 12.16.05

Agreed. Mezmerize and Hypnotize have that balance and you can easily get every track on either disc in your head after a few listens. Then when you get tired, you can listen to the other disc. That's what makes Mezmerize/Hypnotize an amazing double album.
EDIT: Hypnotize seems like the better disc though, because it shows your mind that you have a mind, unlike the mindless album Mezmerize. This Message Edited On 12.16.05

that deep dude....so deep... but ya... the thing i like about SOAD is that they have a mix of political important song a stupied mindless crap songs. I like band's that tend to mix it up.

I think that SOAD should not be considered nu-metal anymore on sputnik. What say you?
|
| |
The only other genre that they could possibly fit in with would be Hard Rock.
|
| |
I say nu metal.
But that's just me.

Or just "metal"?

I agree that they should be considered just "Metal" here. It makes me sick that they're in the same category as Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, imo.
|
| |
I say you should put them under the "Metal" category. They arent 'regular' metal per say, but they definately arent Nu-Metal. And they seem to be way too hard to be hard rock. Hell, make a SOAD category to solve this little mess. But PLEASE consider changing the Nu-Metal tag on System, because they are very much not.

A thrash band with prog-metal tendencies, perhaps?

Great review. System of a Down are getting softer and softer and i doubt they can be titled a metal act. For real system listen to their self titled and toxicity As for Daron - he cant sing and i really wish he would keep his whiny vioce to backup vocals as opposed to actually taking a leading role in vocals. Serj can actually sing from roars to whispers to great melody. Only good track is Vicinity of Obscenity. This Message Edited On 12.18.05

Daron has some good vocal talent in some songs on this double album though. He's amazing on "Lost In Hollywood", "Dreaming", "Hypnotize", and "Soldier Side".
