I know most people will say this doesn't matter, but the his gagged sounding screams make any lyrics completely unintelligible. I actually don't mind some bands where I can't make out any lyrics, but it doesn't even sound like he is trying to enunciate at all

And no, he's not that great when compared to many other extreme-style vocalists. But he's pretty distinct, I'll give him that.

The worshiping needs to stop.

This is what puts me off a little... I cannot understand a word he is saying. Its not that he sounds bad though, guess it might take me a while to adjust to his vocals. But still I feel I would enjoy what I heard as a pure instrumental but then it wouldn't be the album it is.

I guess the analogy is that even today's most critically acclaimed and hard working metal bands, as well as new up-and-comers, will find it hard to compete against a new standard set by Converge.

Fewer jobs, meaning, it's not just enough to graduate and get a degree. You're competing against a lot of other people who have achieved the same exact thing as you, and possibly, even more. It's a new standard in that sense.

read these words (YOUR WORDS) once more and then ask me to explain why they're not analogous.

I never said he made a good analogy, I was simply stating what I assumed it to be (which is, that Converge made a record every bit as good as their contemporaries with extra qualities that sets them above the rest)
