I've tried, yes. It's mostly his singing that turns me off though. If I was a director and wanted someone to make a soundtrack for my new western, I'd call him though.

again man that's fair enough

i tend to be particular about vocals myself most of the time so id be remiss to argue with you here no matter how much i love him

cave is an acquired taste imo -- I don't think any one thing about him stands out or is leagues above anyone else, but he throws himself completely into his music and somehow that just translates in the songs.

^^^ This is correct. A 4 for the "Best Cave" is too low. He has multiple 5s in his discog lol

My ratings are fucked up. In my head it’s a 5. This is the only true 5 tho. The closest is maybe Let Love In? That’s just me tho.

This probably is a 5, but one listen tides me over for such a long timespan that I forget sometimes

I think Let Love In and Henry's Dream are also 5's.

Idk how I feel about Skeleton Tree cause I haven't heard anything after Lazurus yet. I started his discog from The Boys Next Door to The Birthday Party forever ago and have been slowly working through the Bad Seeds material for a while now. Gonna listen to the last 3 soon.

Edit: The whole run from 1988 to 2001 is full of viable 5's if you ask me.

Every Bad Seeds record from the 2010’s is also a viable 5 tbh, just hurts more to acknowledge it on anything post Push the Sky

Nick Cave has a lot of 5s but I can see why not everyone would agree on which ones are. For me it’s the 90s and 10s eras

Can’t even begin to fathom how something like The Mercy Seat was written.

Given some of those stories about Cave’s late 80s Berlin Period, might take a little fathoming for him too, in retrospect
