Pray Tell is the best song of 2010.

That's very hyperbolic. Top 20, maybe.

'Album is terribad. All of the songs sound the same, and all of Anberlin's charm is gone. Now they're just going through the motions.'
This sums up my thoughts on this. There is nothing I haven't really heard in previous Anberlin in this (besides a few experiments, like the awful beginning of 'You Belong Here'). 'The Art of War' starts amazingly, but the chorus sounds so generic. And where is the 6 minute+ epic at the end?

I think they're going where they need to. This is their best since Cities, and I would have been disappointed if they returned
to their own sound when this one much more vibrant and unique.

This is where a decimal rating system would come in handy. I'd probably rate this a 4.3.

I honestly would've been disappointed if Anberlin had made an album likes NFTP or Cities again because bands have to evolve. It would inevitably get boring if this was in the same vain; I love what they do with this record.

Exactly.

Eh, i beg to differ, i know how bands evolve and such, but, there is such thing as trying to go to far, and i just feel like theyve lost some of the uniquness that made them so good. Not saying that they've sold out, just stating my opinion.

It took me two months. The album just "clicked", and I love it. I don't know what happened. I thought it lacked melody upon first listen, and I think initial disappointment fogged my judgement, and I bashed this thing like nuts. Gave it 2.5. More of a 3.5 now. Good stuff.

Floridian quintet Anberlin could not record a bad album if they tried… And while ‘Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place’ does not match its 2 predecessors & may initially seem a little underwhelming & mid-tempo, it turns out to be a real grower. Densely layered & subtle musical touches abound, but it is Stephen Christian’s majestic vocals which take center stage. From the catchy ‘Impossible’ to the acoustic ‘Down’, and from the hard-hitting ‘To The Wolves’ to the splendid ‘The Art of War’, there is something for everyone on this slightly back-loaded LP that contains no filler. Recommended Tracks: The Art of War, Impossible, To The Wolves & Down.
