This has a DEP edge to it at times.

Raised this to a 4.5 because it's fantastic driving jams.

Kinda lame. Don't know how anyone could seriously compare this to Glassjaw.

this seems more and more contrived with every listen.

Yeah and this dude's vocals are a mediocre Palumbo impression at best. He doesn't have the oddball clean style or the balls to back up the harshes. At least based on my first few spins.

I dunno, this gets better and better after every listen.

couldn't enjoy the review much. seemed like you were trying too hard. kind of a tiring read for me.
also the shouter is fine at best and nowhere near perfect. he overindulges himself much too often and the style he let's loose could be better described with a term like 'nuts'. at times it seems like he recorded what suddenly came through his mind while in front of the mic. btw in 'homeless jazz' he sounds like the singer of fall out boy oO
furthermore, while thinking of the last five years in post-hardcore, silverstein, funeral for a friend(??) and hawthorne heights(????) come through your mind? seriously dude, how much did you miss? hawthorne heights is poor at best and FATA is close to being called dead - 'Hours' is nearly six years old...
maybe listen to ower definition's 'the greatest of all lost arts'(!), chiodos' 'illuminaudio', circa survive, dance gavin dance, broadway, some we are the emergency etc...list continues.
overall the record has a too crazy & punky feel to me to get more than a 4. anyway, it's a solid one.
ps: finally I am with Deviant when he says,
'For the most part its a really good and, at times, exciting listen. And then at other times I just found it whittling away to nothing more than just background music
At times there just seems to be a bit too much going on'

my view is a mix between greer's soundoff and the merit the tunes have as far as musicianship and catchiness go

a near fetishistic influence from early 2000s post-hardcore and metalcore
this part is more relevant

I quite like this.

Gonna eat a bit of crow here...I was a hater on first few spins, but I've come around. My initial gripes remain: vocalist has the sickest range and diversity but all of the wankery and cutesy comments he throws in, as well as a lot of the lyrics really piss me off. That said, album can't really be ignored. 'Over Being Under' is my favorite track here, though the few seconds of the female vocal section in 'Muther' is full-on win.

I know. I keep going back and forth. It's like enjoying a shitty sitcom every now and then when it's good. But I decided I was probably holding it to too high a standard.

renegade '86 is sort of annoying

muther should not work at all it's so ridiculous haha but it's a really amazing song

when something is as derivative as this, I lose the ability to make any sort of connection and they just sort of become another post-hardcore band
