Yeah, I think it's retarded saying that you won't 'understand' this album without the use of alcohol. The lyrics and music are straightforward enough that being hammered really wouldnt make a difference in anyway. Even those that don't drink should probably be able to figure out the idea and themes of this album quite easily.

robertsona, don't you think the kind of over the top lyrics fit such an ambitious album? i mean, i don't think anyone should listen to this is and think to themselves 'hmm maybe he should tone it down a bit'. i personally wouldn't like this album half as much if it weren't for his overly expressive lyrics.
pretty much, the more references to bodily fluids, the better

|

are you really pinning me as an anti-hipster or whatever because i dont like this album, in spite of a million counterexamples right in your face

well simply because you brought up fight club, he assumed you were comparing this with fight club
|
| |
yeah but the reasoning he tied to my not liking of them both (i still havent put forth any opinion on fight club but regardless) was because theyre "hyped" and not because, say, they both strike me as ugly and violent, or annoying, or whatever.

well i remember you saying one time that you tend to dislike things that everyone hypes over. i didn't take that 100% seriously which is pretty much how you should treat my comment.
what do you honestly think about the movie?

i'm interested in why you don't like fight club, tbh. movie still floors me to this day
|

i havent seen it lol
i mostly see connections between people who like this album and people who like that movie and was just interested if that was legitimate and the two are thematically/emotionally similar

i think, theme-wise, the monitor and fight club are completely different. in fight club, you could say the narrator destroys everything that he was, using tyler durden, while the monitor is about accepting your insecurities and becoming comfortable with who you are

"And whatever amount you paid for your many distraction well it was too much and at the end of the day to whatever extent that you hate yourself it isn't enough"
that kinda screams fight club to me

electric city i always feel like i have to break through some barrier before youre willing to level with me; it's like youre afraid someones gonna catch you legitimately discussing music with a Robertsona (which i admit is a pretty scary notion but regardless)
