I'm listening to the stream right now. I'm on Black Gold and I like it so far but the vocals are super repetitive sounding.

Idk how I didn't notice this before but Alabaster might just be the best song..."She's up in the sky and the sky is on fire".

..."She's up in the sky and the sky is on fire".
Probablement certaines des paroles les plus gaies que je jamais ai vu.

Do people in Australia call the rest of the world 'up over'?

Lol
This album was surprisingly good for my hangover yesterday

"Idk how I didn't notice this before but Alabaster might just be the best song..."She's up in the sky and the sky is on fire"." No, it's not... But the last 4 tracks are the big growers on the album.
"and i do like it a lot but ive found them a little obnoxious since album 1 for no real reason. hmmm. great live act, too." Eh, who isn't obnoxious these days? And I've heard their better live than on record. That wouldn't surprise me with the energy of 'Antidotes', but would with this album.
"Do people in Australia call the rest of the world 'up over'?" Nope, we call them Wannabee Aussies.
"This album was surprisingly good for my hangover yesterday" Foals: Curing people's hangovers since 2010.

You're right: Spanish Sahara > Alabaster > Black Gold > Miami > After Glow > What Remains
Fuck that was hard...

Never under-estimate 'Spanish Sahara' again.

It might very well be just me, but I find Spanish Sahara to be my least favorite track on the album now. Before TLF leaked, I played Spanish Sahara nonstop in giddy anticipation, but now that I've heard the entire album, I find myself pressing the skip button usually. It's not that it's a weak song or anything (the build-up and release is undeniably intense and satisfying) but it's just that I can't settle down for the next 6:51 for such a slow song when I've just been rocking out to TLF, Miami, and Black Gold. I guess it's just a buzz kill, in a sense, after hearing the first 4 fast paced songs. Also, I agree that it's a pinnacle Foals song and fits the dark, brooding mood of the new album, but I just can't sit through it anymore. Aside from SS, I've basically been playing this album on my computer/in my car nonstop.

"It might very well be just me, but I find Spanish Sahara to be my least favorite track on the album now." Yeah, probably just you Nick. I think it may have something to do with the fact that you've overplayed it & heard it so much more than the other songs.
I do find it interesting that they didn't use it as the album closer (especially since 'Black Gold' comes directly before it). Initially, I thought it was a rather bad decision those 2 songs came together, but it doesn't bother me now. If I did have the choice now, I still wouldn't have them together though.

Spanish Sahara is so awesome. That contributed nothing to the conversation but it really is.

Decided on 4.5 rating... was like 4.3. Really awesome album with no weak points and no skippers. They really tore this one up. Alabaster is totally transfixing me right now.

Yeah, I was the same as you fractured; initially torn between a 4 & 4.5 rating, but then realised that I didn't really want to skip any track. Wow, it seems 'Alabaster' is now the song of the week. We could have a song of the week off this album for the next 10 weeks! Sorry 'Fugue', you miss out.

I still prefer Antidotes to this

I'm sort of not surprised you feel that way Deviant. 'Antidotes' is much much much more dancier than this, and you're sort of Sputnik's resident techno/club/doof-doof fan.

Its not so much that, even though yes, I do enjoy that type of thing (which you know). That one just seems to hold more energy to it, kinda like Battles but with vocals. Not a perfect comparison, but you get the idea

Yeah, dancier music usually has more energy than indie(-pop) by nature.

And I just think they took things down a few notches on this one
