Yes, Bear is about an abortion. The whole album is an allegory about an emotionally abusive relationship Silberman was in

I've got a nagging suspicion that their next record is going to be something special

Burst Apart and the Undersea EP are both great, although neither hold a candle to this imo. How has your weekend been man?

Yeah not bad I've been studying for my English and Ancient History exams
This is probably the last night I'll be on Sputnik in quite a while (two weeks) unless I sneak in some time here and there after exams each day
Either way, don't miss me too much ;)
How's yours been man

Good luck man, I'm sure you'll kill it!
Think I'm gloing to try and cut down my time on here as well in exchange for increasing my productivity (homework, working out etc). This site is such a massive distraction.
Best weekend I've had in ages man :]

I'm still going to have to bump my rating down. But the brunt emotional impact of this album is undeniable.

Don't leave me in suspense avon what'd you do? Sounds fun
I'm sure I'll kill it too, cos if I don't, I'll be letting down the high expectations everyone seems to have of me. Gotta love them expectations!
I still don't find this album particularly sad

Got a place on 43 acres up in healesville, was fantastic. Went on a brewery tour yesterday, which basically consisted of us drinking free drinks all day with 15 minutes of learning how beer is made. Ruled hard.
Really? You read the lyrics?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.1
That sounds sick haha now you can brew your own garage beer like Hank in BB
I can see it now
"Barksdalebrau - home brewed to silky perfection"
Yeah I read the lyrics, obviously the story is sad but it didn't make me break down in tears or anything like I expected it to after the hype. Will give it another listen though and see

Actually it's really his voice that gets me. I'm at least a bit gay for his vibrato

Oh yeah magnificent vocals for sure

Fair enough man, sometimes the hype can null the experience of a record when it isn't quite what it is built up to be. And agreed, Silberman is a fantastic vocalist. His falsetto at the end of Epilogue (which ironically was the first song written for the album) gives me shivers.

Gonna listen again tonight though and possibly change my opinion completely will get back to you
Some hard jams on their/his first album

Hope so man, such a jam.
Still need to check out In The Attic, my bro speaks highly of it as well.
