I am not on the bandwagon of a hate fad. I don't like Justin Bieber and think he makes bad music. If that's a bandwagon, then I'm in tons, both for loving and hating artists, as are you. We both enjoyed Cynic's "Traced In Air," as did most of Sputnik. So we're both on the Cynic-love bandwagon.

Rudy's review was well-written. I'm not saying it wasn't, although I think a 2.5 is too high of a rating for this complete rubbish.

And by the way, no ones forgotten about Brokencyde, or Owl City. Or Soulja Boy really, for that matter. Miley Cyrus is more popular than ever. The Joans Borthers are gradually falling out of the spectrum, I'll give you that.

Y'see, "fanboy" reviews are normally 4.5 or 5-star reviews. My review was three stars, later dropped to 2.5. Just because I enjoy his music slightly more than you do, does not a fanboy make. Approval ratings mean nothing. I could sit there clicking yes over and over again and it wouldn't make your review any better whatsoever.

okay, this post assumes music is measured objectively. wrong, but let's just assume it's right; it's still a ridiculous statement. first off is the assumption that "anything over a 2 is a -fanboy review-". really? anything over a 2? so anything even -RELATIVELY- positive is a "fanboy review"? c'mon. that's just stupid. even saying that -any- rating is a "fanboy review" is ridiculous, but those standards are just stupid. honestly, dude. and then condemning those who don't share your tastes as both "fanboys" and people with "no musical taste whatsoever". sure, buddy.

Approval rating says 1 of 2 things:

1) That the person who gave it a "pos" (and, keep in mind, this person may not be familiar with the standards of a -good review-) thinks it's a good review.

2) That the person who gave it a "pos" gave it a pos for some other reason, usually pertaining to if they agree with the review or not. (Usual thought process: "Hey, I hate/love this album too! Pos'd!" Try to deny it, but the herd mentality behind Justin Bieber hate (and Disney Channel-esque artists hate in general) probably provided you with a good amount of these positive ratings.

But, if someone has an actual qualm with your review, you can't brush it off by brandishing your approval rating. It just doesn't work that way, dude. Now, I don't know if AtavanHalen has produced some legitimate, specific criticism of your review--he probably has--but, if he has, you simply can't just show him your approval rating and thus "prove him wrong". Approval rating is not legitimate "evidence" against someone's qualms with your review.
