I expected better from these guys.
Not terrible, but it sounds uninspired and tbh, lazy.
A shame.

i think people are too harsh on this album. After listening to about 20 times it's pretty good. It's definitely better than Haven and just as good as projector and skydancer
there are some sweet tracks like, shadow in our blood, the grandest accusation, arkhangelsk, iridium, i am the void, at the point of ignition, you just gotta get used to the new sound.

Yeah, deleted most of this from my computer as soon as I finished listening to it. It sounds exactly like I expected it to I guess: background music for goth kids.
But seriously, it's rare that I'm in the mood for anything of this nature anymore, and if I am, I'll put on Colony, Character or Natural Born Chaos.

I wouldn't go that far just yet. We'll see what their next album brings about. If I were DT, though, I'd break up before they taint their reputation even further.

Oh, The Gallery's great -- and there are better In Flames and Soilwork albums than the ones I mentioned too. I just mean less melodic death-sounding and more Gothenburg sounding (with the heavy electronic presence and clean vocals and the like). I'd say Whoracle, The Chainheart Machine and The Gallery are the best albums by the bands, but they're more in the mold of classic melodic death metal.
Crysis: I know what you mean, I was just joking when I said that. These guys are still relevant, but they're walking a thin tightrope right now.

Thanks, I agree that they are really on thin ice, especially with their more seasoned fans who have been around to see that this band has done way better.

Except this is better than Projector... even if you don't like the music on Projector i still think it deserves major respect points for actually daring to be so different, especially compared to The Gallery and The Mind's I. this however...

The only major thing it has going for it is atmosphere, and leading to DD and Fiction. Both are largely forgettable with 2 awesome/great songs max.
