It sucked... really.. this is plain average. And the clean vocals are just terrible.
The review is really nice, but i don't agree.
The lyrics are pretty much all generic shit, drums and guitars are great.
2.5 or 3. Not much.

I mean, Fear Factory really? yeah, Raymond's double bass was something to speak for when we were like, eleven when we all first
heard replica for the first time on the Ozzfest 97 live disc. But this can't really be taken seriously. There's no thought in this band
anymore. It's washed up adults hanging on by a thread.

It's clearly evident by the ratings here and how the mainstream are receiving it that you're wrong. They definitely still have stuff to prove

Kinda sounds like you, especially if you were 11 in '97. Good music is still made by this band ya dig?

I've always thought that Gene's best work was on Death's "Individual Thought Patterns" album. He'll probably never have a chance to do an album like that again, unfortunately. He's kind of been cast into a certain role because of SYL.
A few comments back, I mentioned Gene Hoglan's best drum work being "Symbolic" because everything in this record is in perfect balance. In "Individual Thought Patterns" however, everything is pushed to the edge, sometimes at the expense of songwriting conciseness...
The thing i don't quite like about the new FF record is that Gene wasn't "allowed" to play with his hands as he does with his feet, as he is equally excellent in both.
Haake in Meshuggah is excellent with his feet, but lacks somehow in diversity with the hands (he admitted it in an interview for "Obzen" in the Hellenic Metal Hammer), whereas Gene excels in the respective domain.
Imho I think FF must let Gene completely "loose" on the next one, if they want to go to the next level.

So, this is number 1 in the popular albums area but it will never make it into the "best new music"...

Album review utilizing the court of public opinion was a nice touch.Good job Trey.As for the album,I'm biased .IMHO, FF can do no wrong, well maybe a few songs off Transgression were a little weak.Layoff for them was good.BTW,the layoff didn't hurt Trey either.

I just read that the digipak version of this has a re-recording of "Crash Test" from "Soul of a New Machine"... fuck. Has anyone heard it? Is it worth buying the whole damn album twice for?
